Guest Profile: Zhao Zhiwei is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Chongqing University and one of the top-notch scientific research talents at Chongqing University. As the director of the Department of Municipal Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology, specially recruited as the academic leader of the former Logistics Engineeringschoolof the People’s Liberation Army, and concurrently as the deputy director of the Youth Workers Committee of the China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association, a member of the Engineering Education Committee, the young editorial board member of Water Purification Technology, he served as a reviewer for several industry authoritative magazines such as Environmental Science & Technology and Water Research. He mainly engaged in the basic research and engineering practice of drinking water safety technology, water treatment functional materials, smart water affairs and water resources development and utilization. He has presided over nearly 20 projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Science and Technology Major Sub-projects, Military Scientific Research Key Projects of the Military Commission Logistics Department and Military-civilian Integration Key Projects. He has published more than 140 academic papers (60 papers retrieved by SCI, 3 of which are ESI Highly cited papers), gained a total of 35 authorized patents and applications for national defense patents and 4 provincial ministerial science and technology awards and participated in editing 3 monographs. In recent years, for the security of the water supply system of military bases, he has developed intelligent safety early warning equipment that integrates biological behavior and spectroscopy, carried out research and development and engineering design of drinking water safety technology for extreme environments, presided over the completion of water supply security projects of 19 border posts as the technical director, lead a team to travel to and from Nansha Islands, broken through 21 key pollution prevention technologies, successfully solved the pollution problem of Yongshu and other islands and reefs, and been awarded the honorary title of "Nansha Ecological Guardian". He also developed iron-manganese water treatment functional materials and their nets research on new water technology, established a theoretical system of functional material interface regulation and pollution removal characteristics.
